Skipper Course in Ashdod & the South

A yacht licence (Meshit 30) — study 10 minutes from home instead of driving to Haifa or Herzliya.

The Sailing School of the South

Blue Marina Ashdod · Pier 6

Most skipper schools sit in Herzliya and Haifa — so anyone living in Ashdod, Ashkelon, Be'er Sheva or Rehovot ends up driving an hour or more to every lesson. Posidon is at the Blue Marina Ashdod, training skippers from the south for 40 years.

The course is identical to our full course — 4 theory exams, a practical exam and training aboard a yacht — just without the coastal-road traffic. Theory is taught in the classroom aboard at the marina, and the practical sails straight from the pier into open sea.

Shlomo Asban, the merchant-navy officer who founded Israel's first sailing school, has taught here since 1985 — and thousands of graduates from Ashdod and the region already sail yachts across the Mediterranean.

Why Learn Skippering in Ashdod

instead of driving north

Close to home = you actually finish

A skipper course takes dozens of theory and practical hours. When the lesson is 10 minutes away you attend them all and finish on time; when it's an hour each way, the course drags on.

Real sea, not a pool

The Blue Marina opens onto the open sea — practical training sails straight into real sea conditions, exactly what the practical exam (and real life) demand.

The south's instructors since 1985

40 years of knowing Ashdod's sea — its winds, waves and breakwater. 117 Google reviews at 4.7 stars tell the rest.

Groups that fit you

Morning, evening and weekend groups, Haredi groups and women-only groups — set by demand in the south, not by a Tel Aviv timetable.

Questions from Students in the South

What we get asked on the phone

Where exactly does the Ashdod course take place?+
At the Blue Marina Ashdod, Pier 6 (1 Union St.). Theory in the classroom aboard, practical sails from the pier into open sea. Free parking near the marina.
I'm from Be'er Sheva — is Ashdod worth the drive?+
Ashdod is the closest marina to Be'er Sheva and the entire south — 45–50 minutes, versus an hour and a half or more to Herzliya or Haifa. Most of our southern students come once or twice a week.
Is the Ashdod course different from one in Herzliya or Haifa?+
No. The licence is identical — the Ministry of Transport's Meshit 30, the same theory exams and the same practical exam. The difference is the commute, the instructors, and the sea you train in.
When does the next Ashdod group start?+
Groups open all year round — mornings, evenings and weekends. Message us on WhatsApp and we'll place you in the next group.
